Sunday -
Collected from Seville and taken up into the sierra
to our Farm - Finca
el Moro 1hr from Seville.
Monday
- 4 hrs walking. A very pretty walk along the walled
paths that lead between our two local villages, first
to Los Marines with its church square shaded with palm
trees and then on to Fuenteheridos to sit under the
lime trees in the square with the sound of the famous
spring enjoying a quiet drink. Home through the small
neighbouring farms
(You have
a choice of walks each day some long, some short, what
follows is just one possibility)

Tuesday
- 6 hrs walking. Through fragrant
pines and onto high ridges to the village of Valdelarco
lying hidden at the head of its own valley. Wonderful
country, this is a real day out in the sierras, with
views as far as Portugal, back home through the tiny
hamlet of Navahermosa and returning finally up the river
valley back to Finca
el Moro.
Wednesday - 5
hrs walking. Up and over the northern face of the sierra
through corridors of aromatic cistus and lavender with
plunging views across the Sierra Morena – the
scene of many a skirmish between Moor and Templar -
and down into the flower - filled Huelva river valley
for a picnic lunch and the chance of a refreshing dip.
Then return home through the pretty village of Cortelazor
and perhaps on the way to find a bar for a coffee-stop.

Thursday -
5
hrs walking. Climb gently through the chestnut groves
carpeted with wild flowers in spring or in autumn ablaze
with colour and alive with the sound of the chestnut
gatherers. To arrive at the highest village of the sierra,
Castaño, with its charming plaza and two churches.
Back home along the southern face of the sierra, with
lovely picnic spots and long views towards the sea down
the southern slopes of the sierra.
Friday -
5hrs walking. Leave
on quiet forested paths and then across the sierra to
the southern side to the charming village of Linares
surrounded by orange orchards and pomegranate trees,
a drink in the village bullring and onto Alájar
for lunch at the C16th shrine of Our lady the Queen
of the Angels. Finally back home over the ridge and
home to Finca el
Moro
Saturday - Leave
after breakfast for the evocative city of Seville. The
narrow streets of the old Arab quarter perfumed with
orange blossom and the walls covered in jasmine tangles.
A chance to buy wonderful ceramics, to stroll the streets
lined with palm trees or just sit and watch it all from
the pavement cafés. Leave
Seville in your own time. We suggest, if you don't already
know it, that you stay overnight. We have a list of
recommended hotels we are happy to supply and can suggest
places not to miss, good restaurants and bars.
